Many of the felines at the Helsinki Zoo are from the cold climatic zones of Asia. The Helsinki Zoo is specialised mainly in predators from cold regions as they are comfortable outdoors throughout the year and adapt well to the Finnish climate. Most mammals are marsupials and monotremes. Tropical rainforests grown only in the northern and north-eastern parts of the continent, while the central parts are mainly covered with savannah, steppe and desert. The animal species of North America's coniferous and deciduous forests are similar to the species of Eurasia.
