Refreshments and Shops

 

The restaurant Pukki and Safari Café are open the year round. There is a buffet lunch served in Pukki every day in addition to the meals from the standard menu. In summer, coffee and snacks are available in the cafeteria Karhu, the Saarenvartijan Tupa (Caretaker’s Hut) and three booths as well. All summer, the buns and bread come from the local island bakery.

 

In the spring 2010 all restaurants, cafes and kiosks were awarded the Nordic Swan Eco-label. Only Fair Trade coffee and tea is served and in addition, our restaurant promotes locally produced food, and participates in a local organic food programme. All disposable dishes are biodegradable and sorted into organic waste. The Zoo shop and Safari Shop sport a wide variety of Fair Trade products and Helsinki Zoo products available at the Zoo only.

 

 

The main restaurant on the island is located in a 19th century historical setting. You can choose between an à la carte menu or the buffet table. Coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, sweet and savoury snacks are also available. The restaurant is fully licensed. Restaurant Pukki is open throughout the year whenever the zoo is open. The restaurant is adjoined by a pleasant outdoor terrace. 

 

 

The large windows offer an excellent view of the bears. The menu is designed specially with children in mind. Coffee and snacks are also available. The range of refreshments includes non-alcoholic drinks as well as beer and other mildly alcoholic beverages. The café is open during the summer season. The large, sunny terrace is an ideal spot for enjoying an ice-cream.

 

 

 

 

The old island watchman’s cottage now houses a traditional café:, an idyllic setting for resting your feet and enjoying a little treat. The terrace offers a view of Cat Valley. Nearby trees provide shade, making the terrace a pleasant, cool haven even on the hottest days.

 

 

The Safari café is located next to the entrance on Mustikkamaa. The range of refreshments includes a range of coffee products such as espresso, soft drinks, sweets and savoury snacks. There are tables both in the sun and shade. The café is open throughout the year whenever the zoo is open.

LINTU KIOSK
The traditional ice cream kiosk next to the Borealia Building sells cones and choc ices. There are a few tables outside the kiosk. The kiosk is open during the summer season.

RANTA KIOSK

The kiosk is located next to the boat quay for ferries running between Korkeasaari and the Market Square or Hakaniemi. The range of refreshments includes coffee, soft drinks, sweets and savoury snacks, ice cream and soft ice. There are a few tables outside the kiosk. The kiosk is open during the summer season

 

SAUKKO KIOSK
Located near the Cat Valley, the kiosk sells coffee, soft drinks and sweet and savoury snacks, including ice cream and soft ice. There are a few tables outside the kiosk. The kiosk is open during the summer season.
 

 

 

KORKEASAARI SHOP
The shop is located next to the Rantakioski by the boat quay. Here you will find a wealth of charming souvenirs and toys with an animal theme, as well as handy items such as film for your camera or batteries. The shop stocks a wide range of unique ornaments made of balsa wood. We buy these directly from the natives in the Amazonian region at a price set by the makers themselves. Most of the products on offer are unique to our shop in Finland. The shop is open during the summer season.
