AMAZONIA GROUP
The Amazonia building of Helsinki Zoo houses tropical South-American species. They are cared for by 6 animal keepers. They take care of small monkeys (families Callithricidae and Cebidae), tropical birds (parrots, parakeets, ibises, toucans), reptiles (turtles, snakes, caimans) and poison arrow frogs.
Daily routines include cleaning and decorating the enclosures, feeding the animals and observing and making notes of their condition. The animals are very clever, making it rather challenging to provide enrichments in feeding and in the environment.
We are responsible for the following animals
White-faced saki Golden lion tamarin Goeldi’s monkey Emperor tamarin Hyacinth macaw Aguti Blue poison arrow frog
