A bridge connects us to Mustikkamaa recreation area, so you can visit the Zoo all year round. In the summer you can also take a ferry to the Zoo from the Market Square. By bus The bus stops nearest to the Korkeasaari Zoo are in the A zone of the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL). Bus number 16 takes passengers from the Helsinki Railway Square right to the Korkeasaari ticket booth in Mustikkamaa. The bus leaves from the Railway Square next to the railway station and departs three times per hour. The estimated travel time is 20 minutes. Bus 16 schedule Bus 59 drives via the Pasila railway station to Sompasaari, which is a 500 metre walk away from the ticket booth in Mustikkamaa. Bus 59 arrivals Bus 59 departures There are no bus ticket stations in Korkeasaari or Mustikkamaa, and the bus drivers do not sell tickets. The nearest places where bus tickets are sold are in Kalasatama, but the easiest way to purchase a ticket is to use HSL’s mobile app. By ferry The ferry operates from the Market Square on a daily basis from the beginning of June to the end of August, and on weekends in May and September. The ferry does not run between October and April. The travel time is about 20 minutes. The ferry leaves for each direction once per hour: from the Market Square on the hour, and from Korkeasaari at half past. See schedules Purcase tickets You may purchase your ticket beforehand or directly from the ferry. Please note that HSL’s travel card is not accepted as payment. The route is operated by JT-Line. The ticket price only includes the ferry ride and tickets to the Zoo must be purchased separately either from the Korkeasaari web store or ticket booth. You cannot visit Korkeasaari Zoo using your own boat. By bike In the summertime, there is a HSL city bike station by the Zoo’s ticket booth. The other nearby stations are at the end of the Isoisänsilta bridge and in the Mustikkamaa parking lot. Those under 7 years of age may bring a scooter, bicycle, plastic sledge or steerable sledge with them to the Zoo. Visitors older than that may leave their own means of transport by the ticket booth. HSL city bikes By metro There is about a kilometre’s walk from the metro stop at Kalasatama to the Korkeasaari ticket booth in Mustikkamaa. The Kalasatama metro stop is situated in the Redi shopping centre, which is within HSL’s A zone. Metro schedule By car When arriving to the Zoo by car, the best place to leave your car is in the Aimo Park parking garage of the Redi shopping centre, prices can be found on Aimo Park’s website. From the Redi shopping centre there is a 10-minute walk to Korkeasaari Zoo’s ticket booth. Bus number 16 that drives right past Redi can also take you directly to the Zoo’s ticket booth. Redi-parking See the walking route Another parking area near the Zoo is situated in Mustikkamaa, but it only offers limited parking space. Some of the parking spots in Mustikkamaa are subject to charge and some have time limitations (max. 4 h or max. 24 h). The parking area is managed by of the Culture and Leisure Division of the City of Helsinki. Parking outside of the parking lot is forbidden, as it will block the bus and emergency vehicle routes.
